- Metalcore and Deathcore
- Djent
- Hard Rock
- Glam Rock
- Progressive Rock
- Psychedelic Rock
- Punk Rock
- Gothic Rock
- Industrial Metal
- Alternative Metal
- J-Rock
- Post-Rock and Post-Punk
- Cover Songs (interpreted in a rock or metal style, performed by well-renowned members or signed to a well-renowned rock/metal label)
Criteria for Rejection:
- Pop Music with Rock or Metal elements (e.g., My Chemical Romance, Blink-182)
- Alternative Rock (e.g., Linkin Park)
- Mallcore/New Metal (exceptions may apply but generally not accepted, e.g., Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach)
- Ambient, Drone, Noise (exceptions for bands with well-known members or signed to significant labels)
- Industrial Rock (exceptions for bands with well-known members or signed to significant labels)
- Bands listed on Metal Archives (MA)
