Rules and Help

Metallum Rejections is an archive platform dedicated to documenting bands that have been rejected from Metal Archives (MA) or do not meet MA's acceptance criteria.

Important Clarifications:

  • Bands Only: This platform focuses exclusively on bands that were rejected from MA. Artists and labels are not the primary focus, though they may appear as part of band information (e.g., members, label associations).
  • Artists & Labels Can Be Duplicates: Artists and labels that appear on Metallum Rejections may also exist on Metal Archives, as they can be associated with both accepted and rejected bands.
  • Not Automatically Synced: Metallum Rejections is not automatically synchronized with MA's rejection list. Just because a band was rejected by MA does not mean it will automatically appear here. Bands must be manually submitted and approved through our submission process — but if a band was rejected by MA, it is almost sure that it will be accepted here once submitted.
  • Bands Can Be Removed: Bands listed here can be deleted if they are later accepted on Metal Archives.

Nu metal bands may be accepted in the future, but that will depend on what most contributors decide.

Platform Purpose:

Our goal is to serve as a reliable and comprehensive source for the vast majority of bands that fall outside MA's criteria. We maintain the same structure and depth as Metal Archives, including:

  • Complete discography information
  • Band member lineups and history
  • Similar artists and recommendations
  • External links and resources

Community Contributions:

Metallum Rejections relies on community contributions to grow and maintain its database. The platform operates similarly to Metal Archives with a user ranking and points system. Submissions pass through revision for moderation before being accepted, the same as MA. Users can also be banned if they are caught for wrongdoing; banned users cannot submit or participate. As a rule of thumb, if on MA it is done a certain way, it almost surely works the same here.

  • Ranks: Users progress through different ranks based on their contributions
  • Points: Earn points for submitting and updating band information
  • Credits: Contributors receive credit for their submissions, helping build a comprehensive archive through community effort

Don't take it too seriously — this is all in good fun.
